'So what is this 'alumni' thing anyway?' I hear you ask. It's likely, in fact probable, that many Milestones readers will not be very familiar with the term. So, I would like to use this opportunity to make you more aware of the University's alumni, or former students, and the impact they have on the University and the student experience you are enjoying today.
Alumni support the University in a variety of ways ranging from assistance with student recruitment and careers advice to participation in the University's governing bodies and the provision of financial support. We therefore value the relationship with our alumni very highly and like to keep in touch with as many former students as possible. In fact, the Development & Alumni Office is currently in contact with over 130,000 alumni worldwide, including over 1,200 living in Singapore.
For those of you in your final year, please do let us have your home address and email so that we can stay in touch with you after you graduate. By keeping in touch with us, you will receive:
Alumni magazines with news about the University and other alumni
Information about alumni events and reunions
Details of alumni benefits and discounts
We can also help you to re-establish contact with university friends you may have lost touch with.
It's very easy to register your new details on line at: www.alumni.bham.ac.uk, alternatively complete the Alumni Details Form sent to you with details of degree congregations. Our website also has details of forthcoming alumni events, including activities and reunions organised by alumni in Singapore, so do have a look.
Stay in touch - you're still a very important part of the University!
